How the math works
- Concentration = peptide in the vial (mg) ÷ bacteriostatic water (mL). A 5 mg vial with 2 mL of water is 2.5 mg/mL.
- Volume to draw = your dose (mg) ÷ concentration. A 250 mcg dose is 0.25 mg, so 0.25 ÷ 2.5 = 0.1 mL.
- Syringe units = volume (mL) × 100 on a U-100 syringe. 0.1 mL is the 10-unit mark.
- Doses per vial = vial amount ÷ dose. A 5 mg vial at 0.25 mg per dose gives 20 doses.

Calculator FAQ
- How do you calculate a peptide dose after reconstitution?
- Divide the peptide amount in the vial (mg) by the bacteriostatic water you added (mL) to get the concentration in mg/mL. Then divide your desired dose by that concentration to get the volume to draw. On a U-100 insulin syringe, 1 mL equals 100 units, so multiply the volume in mL by 100 to get the unit mark.
- How much bacteriostatic water should I add to a vial?
- Any volume works as long as you do the math — more water simply means a more dilute solution and larger draws. Most people pick a volume that makes their usual dose land on an easy syringe mark, commonly 1 mL, 2 mL or 3 mL for a 5 mg or 10 mg vial.
- What is the difference between mg and mcg?
- 1 mg equals 1000 mcg. Vials are usually labelled in mg while research doses are often written in mcg, so a 250 mcg dose is 0.25 mg.
- What do the units on an insulin syringe mean?
- A U-100 insulin syringe is marked in 100 units per 1 mL. So 10 units is 0.1 mL, 50 units is 0.5 mL. The units measure volume, not the amount of peptide.
